Founded in 2004, Hanover High School Robotics DOTM 1522 (Defenders of the Multiverse) has had challenging and rewarding seasons, with two second place finishes in the NASA/VCU (VA) Regional and two first place finishes sending them to the World Championship in Atlanta in 2008 & St. Louis in 2011. They also competed in the World Championship in Atlanta in 2010. Under the leadership of mentor and physics teacher Daniel Bartels, the team has grown from a dozen students in 2005 to more than 60 in 2011. The team has been successful in recruiting a diverse mix of students. All students are welcome to join the team. This year, nearly a quarter of the team is female and due to intense recruiting efforts, more than half of the team are first-year members from all grade levels.
